More Festival races planned4th March 2010
Cheltenham racecourse chiefs are planning to make the Cheltenham Festival even bigger with two new races being considered.
They are set to add more races to National Hunt's showpiece meeting from next year - there are currently six races on two days and seven races on the other two days.
Edward Gillespie, the managing director of the racecourse, said they wanted to increase the action for racegoers by putting on seven races every day.
"We have now had a four-day Festival for enough years to know that the formula is working really, really well," he said.
"This is the first time in the past four years that we haven't added an extra race, so perhaps for next year we'll think about adding an extra race. Our evidence suggests seven races a day is what people feel most comfortable with."
Gillespie said the types of new races had not been discussed in detail.

There could be 28 races at future Festivals
