Brindisi Breeze is 10/1 with
bet365 to win the Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle while American Spin is 66/1 and Boston Bob 5/1.
Afterwards Gillies declared himself confident of a great ride at the Festival if indeed he gets the opportunity to ride Russell's high-class animal.
He said: "Brindisi is going very much the right way and that was a seriously impressive performance from him. I'd love the chance to ride him at Cheltenham and I'm sure he will go well down in the west country.
"Obviously I'd very much love the chance of riding him."
