Ladies Day – From 2007, Cheltenham announced that the Thursday of the Festival will be designated as Ladies Day, with the aim of celebrating the exceptional contribution made by ladies throughout the sport of Jump racing. Ladies Day gives the Festival an opportunity to pay tribute to this contribution by way of a brand new award. In 2007, this award attracted a large number of nominations from the public. Those shortlisted included ladies involved in Jump racing in many different ways, from trainers and stable staff to jockeys and charity workers. The winner was Heather Atkinson, Senior Nurse in the Jockeys’ Hospital at Cheltenham for over 30 years.
In a joint initiative with Cheltenham retailers, there are also awards on the day to the ladies adjudged to be wearing the best coat, shoes and accessories, with a further award to the best dressed lady. Ladies are selected and invited to enter the fashion awards on arrival at the course and entrants are judged in a private area, away from public view. Presentations are made before the horses enter the paddock for the first race.

Arrive In Good Time - The gates to the enclosures will open at 10:30am. There is plenty to see and do before racing with trade stands, live music and paddock interviews.
