2019 Cheltenham Festival tips – Massive 600/1 six-fold ante-post accumulator with BetVictor

Our expert takes a look through the ante-post betting for all of the races at the Cheltenham Festival and rolls six of his selections into this 600/1 six-fold accumulator with BetVictor.

There may be eight weeks to go until the start of the Cheltenham Festival, but the markets for many of the big races are already starting to take shape. While some remain particularly muddy, several stars have announced their intentions during the first half of the season and look good bets to continue their strong form at "the greatest show on turf”.

Here’s a monster six-fold for the Cheltenham Festival with BetVictor. Click on the image below to send the bet straight to your BetVictor bet slip!

2019 Cheltenham Festival Accumulator

12/3/19 Unibet Champion Hurdle

Despite losing for the first time in over three years, BUVEUR D’AIR remains the one to beat in the Champion Hurdle. Verdana Blue was on hand to take advantage of an uncharacteristically error-strewn jumping display in the Christmas Hurdle, a performance which will fill the two-time Champion Hurdler’s fans with a slight sense of foreboding.

However, Buveur D’Air is a horse who needs plenty of running and his training will peak in time for the Cheltenham Festival. Course form cannot be underestimated around Prestbury Park and, even if Laurina turns up, I can’t see Buveur D’Air being beaten again as he seeks a historic hat-trick of Champion Hurdles.

12/3/19 Mares’ Hurdle

APPLE’S JADE has undoubtedly been the star of the jumps season so far, with Gordon Elliott’s mare looking better than ever during the second half of 2018. After securing her third-straight Hatton’s Grace victory with the minimum of fuss, Jack Kennedy’s mount didn’t have to come out of third gear when winning the Squared Financial Hurdle at Leopardstown after Christmas.

True, Benie Des Dieux did have her number last spring and Laurina remains a looming presence in the betting. There were, however, medical reasons why Apple’s Jade underperformed last spring and Elliott is confident those issues are firmly behind her. Altior aside, Apple’s Jade looks to be the banker of the entire meeting.

13/3/19 Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle

Trying to find a solid ante-post bet in the three novice hurdles is a daunting task this year, but two horses have managed to separate themselves at the head of the Ballymore betting. Connections of both CHAMP and Battleoverdoyen have all-but confirmed this two-and-a-half-miler is their intended Cheltenham Festival target and, of the two, it’s Nicky Henderson’s contender who makes the most appeal.

Like Battleoverdoyen, Champ had to work hard to secure his Grade One victory, coming out on top in the sprint to the Challow Hurdle title after the field went a crawl for half of the race. JP McManus’ flag-bearer has won twice around Newbury – a track which shares many characteristics with Cheltenham – and Champ will continue to improve as he matures.

13/3/19 Queen Mother Champion Chase

Any accumulator for the Cheltenham Festival wouldn’t be complete without ALTIOR, who continues to dominate the two-mile chasing division. Nicky Henderson’s top chaser managed to win this race last year after an injury-hit build-up and a troubled passage through the race. Those injuries look to be behind Altior and any possible rivals have blotted their copybook during the winter. A fourth Cheltenham Festival victory for Altior seems a mere formality.

13/3/19 Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase

Last year, TIGER ROLL claimed his third Cheltenham Festival title in the Cross Country Chase. Just three weeks after that excellent victory, Davy Russell guided Gordon Elliott’s charge into the Grand National, where he outjumped all 39 of his rivals and held on from the rallying Pleasant Company to win the most famous horse race on the planet.

Tiger Roll’s only appearance of the new season came in the handicap equivalent of the Cross Country at Cheltenham in November, where the fan’s favourite shaped nicely back in fourth when giving stacks of weight to the three horses who headed him. The weights will be level at the Festival and Tiger Roll’s experience means he will be very hard to deny as he bids for back-to-back Cross Country's.

15/3/19 Cheltenham Gold Cup

This year’s Gold Cup is looking a wide-open affair, with plenty of horses laying down a marker during the autumn. As the likes of Clan Des Obeaux and Kemboy have stolen the headlines, NATIVE RIVER’S performances have gone under the radar and I think Colin Tizzard’s star is well placed to defend his Gold Cup crown.

Richard Johnson’s mount couldn’t live with Bristol De Mai’s jumping around Haydock, but gamely hung on to the winners’ coattails to finish a four-length second. Like most people predicted, the fast, early pace around a Kempton track where speed is greatly emphasised didn’t suit Native River. Yet, Tizzard’s star stuck to his guns and finished a staying-on third.

Native River will likely head to the Denman Chase at Newbury next, a race he’s won for the past two seasons and should provide a welcome confidence boost. The attritional nature of the Gold Cup suits this stayers’ strengths perfectly and, if the ground is anywhere near as testing as it was last year, Native River could take some stopping.
