2020 RSA Chase Tips

Daryl Carter takes an in-depth look at this Grade One novice chase and picks out his best 2020 RSA tips in the video below.

Since it’s inception in 1946, the RSA Novices’ Chase has become a hugely important race at the Cheltenham Festival. The second Grade One on day two is known for producing fantastic winners. Greats like Arkle, Looks Like Trouble and Denman went on to score in the Gold Cup, the year after winning the RSA.

Despite an untimely tumble in the Dipper on New Year’s Day, Champ heads the Cheltenham Festival betting on a price of 3/1 with Ladbrokes. Nicky Henderson’s charge had scored twice at Newbury prior to that fall at Cheltenham. Champ will be looking to go one better than the runner-up finished he registered in last year’s Ballymore.

Minella Indo, the 50/1 winner of the Albert Bartlett 12 months ago, is unbeaten in two starts over fences. Henry De Bromhead’s two-time Grade One winning hurdler leads the pack chasing Champ. Allaho also sits prominently in the RSA tips, but recent market moves indicate he could be sent to the Marsh Novices’ Chase instead. Whichever race Allaho goes for, he’ll be popular amongst the Cheltenham Festival tips.

Copperhead’s runaway victory in the Reynoldstown at Ascot could force Colin Tizzard into throwing his progressive novice into the RSA. Battleoverdoyen could be an outsider to watch out for when he steps back up to three miles, having taken a tumble when labouring over a shorter trip in the Flogas at the Dublin Racing Festival.

Daryl Carter has already provided RSA Novices’ Chase tips in a written preview over on Racing Tips. For CheltenhamFestival.net, Daryl has recorded this video, where he looks back on the history of the race and outlines his best 2020 RSA tips. Have a listen…
