Cheltenham Festival Travel

Cheltenham racecourse is just a few minutes north of the centre of Cheltenham, and a short distance from the M5.

By Car

If travelling by road, the maps below indicate the location of course and the best routes to take. Race goers are advised to follow the recommended routes signed by the AA. Nearer the racecourse, you'll find AA signage directing you to the nearest available car park. For GPS users the postcode is GL50 4SH.

Ample car parking is available. Parking for the Festival is £10 (£8 in advance).

By Air
Ryanair offers flights to and from three local airports for the Festival.

By Bus

Stagecoach bus service D runs every 10 minutes during the day and between 10 minutes and every hour in the evenings from Monday to Saturday. Service 527 also provides a regular service from Cheltenham centre to Bishops Cleeve and Gotherington via the racecourse roundabout. For local Stagecoach information please contact 0871 200 22 33.

By Train

Cheltenham Spa station is approximately three miles from the racecourse - for information call 08457 484950. For the Festival, a bus link is provided from the station from at least two hours before racing, returning after racing.

Special raceday steam trains bring racegoers to the Cheltenham Racecourse station in style - using the track for the purpose it was originally built when the racecourse was completed in 1912. For information on getting a train to the Festival contact Classic Hospitality on 08456 528888. Early booking is advisable.

By Bicycle

There are 52 secure bicycle parks next to The Centaur and Best Mate enclosure entrances. The racecourse is currently creating cycle paths for safer and easier access for cyclists.

Festival Radio

Cheltenham Radio, powered by Timeform, provides traffic information, previews, news, live commentaries, results and reviews throughout the Festival. It is available on 87.7 FM within 5 miles of the racecourse.

There are hotels in the Cheltenham area to suit all tastes and budgets, and a wide range of bed and breakfast accommodation. It is advisable to book as far in advance as possible for the Festival.

Travel Information

Travel Information Boards are provided at the three main entrances at the racecourse offering up-to-date bus and train timetables, cycle routes and car sharing and walking options.
