The OLBG Mares' Hurdle Race

Once the Champion Hurdler has finished doing his rounds in the winners’ enclosure, the mares take centre-stage at the Cheltenham Festival. A field of fearsome females will battle for supremacy in the Mares’ Hurdle, all bidding to establish themselves as the dominant mare within their sex and lift the trophy baring the name of David Nicholson – a beloved figure in the sport who saddled 17 Cheltenham Festival winners during his time as a trainer.

The Mares’ Hurdle will always be associated with Willie Mullins’ Quevega, who fended off her fellow females to win the David Nicholson trophy for six successive season between 2009 and ’14.

Our experts have been preparing all year for the Festival, see all of their Cheltenham tips here and get the best betting advice around.
